How the Course Works
This is a practical course built around your own research paper rather than a series of purely theoretical exercises.
You'll work progressively through each stage of developing your manuscript, submitting work for feedback as you go. Your tutor will provide guidance to help you strengthen the structure, clarity and academic presentation of your paper.
You'll also receive editing support as you work towards a final 3,000–5,000 word manuscript.
The aim is to leave the course with a completed paper that is ready to be considered for submission to a suitable academic journal.

The course takes you through the main stages of academic writing and publication, including:
Developing your research question
Structuring your paper
Reviewing the literature
Research methodology
Presenting your findings
Analysis and discussion

Previous Student Outcomes
Publish A Paper was originally developed as a pilot programme, with students working across subject areas including psychology and civil engineering.
Four students from the pilot went on to have papers published in academic journals, including one student who had two papers published.
Publication ultimately depends on factors including the research itself, journal suitability and the journal's own peer-review and editorial process, but these outcomes demonstrate what students have been able to achieve with structured guidance and support.
