Judith McKeon

FOUNDER & PRINCIPAL

  • Judith founded MKLC Training in 1988.  She has a BA in Russian & German, an MA in History and an MBA.  Judith gained her PhD in studying the migration of older people, especially those from Eastern Europe to the UK, and has presented conference papers on this topic internationally.

    She is a fully qualified languages teacher, teacher trainer, assessor & verifier, and specialises in the design of courses for specific markets.

Emma Burrows

STUDENT SUPPORT & TRAINER

  • Emma joined MKLC with a LLB in Law and a MSc in Business Management and an international qualification in Event and Wedding planning.

    During her time with MKLC she has continued to develop her qualifications in the educational sector taking her PTLLS, Assessor Award, IQA and DET, whilst also developing her knowledge through CPD and short courses in marketing, creative writing, history and genealogy.

Stu Rutherford

TRAINER & ASSESSOR

  • Stu first qualified as a teacher in the UK state system way back in 1975. Since then, he has worked in teaching, training, teacher training, quality assurance and management in schools, colleges, universities and companies (supporting a range of vocational areas). He has worked in 7 different countries and has presented conference papers to teachers in the USA and the UAE.

    Stu is a great believer in lifelong learning and recently completed two additional teacher training qualifications in Classroom Observation & Mentoring of Teachers.

Matt Griffin

TRAINER & ASSESSOR

  • Matt is an experienced education and training practitioner, specialising in business, HR and teacher training. Matt holds a BSc (Hons) in HR management from the University of Leicester, a postgraduate certificate in online and distance education from The Open University, and completed his DTLLS and IQA award with MKLC in 2013. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

    Matt’s professional interests relate to practice-based learning and digital learning, specifically in online pedagogy, innovation and emerging technologies for learning, and the role of technology in assessment.

Dr Hasu Patel

TRAINER & ASSESSOR

  • Hasu gained her Doctorate in Education studying the Family learning in English for Speakers of Other languages (FLESOL): a study of Yemeni women’s perspective. Hasu holds a BA (Hons) in Education, MA in Education, and a Postgraduate in Mentoring. She is an experienced teacher trainer, assessor, verifier and examiner.

    Hasu has worked in senior management in adult learning, colleges, and universities. She has developed customised learning programmes to support companies to improve their employee’s communication skills. Hasu has also worked with awarding bodies in developing digital skills at entry level.

Lyn Calver

TRAINER & ASSESSOR

  • Lyn is an educational professional and corporate trainer. Her qualifications include a BA, a PGCE, subject specialisms in English and maths, an Assessor's Award, L5 Business Management and TEFL.

    Lyn has worked in education since 2004 delivering and leading provision for college students, community learners, apprentices and work based learners as well as delivering teacher training and carrying out education training needs analyses internationally. She also delivers corporate workshops in a variety of subjects such as communication and time management.

Julie Peters

TRAINER & ASSESSOR

  • Julie has a MBS, a Postgraduate Diploma in Further Educational Studies, a BSC in Chemistry, Level 4 Training and Development (learning development), holds assessor and internal verifier qualifications, is an examiner in Management, and attained QTS.

    She has a background in syllabus design, assessment development, QCA accreditation and is an academic writer in business subjects from Level 2 to doctorate. Julie is experienced in delivering apprenticeships in a wide range of business related subjects; and delivering remote online student support to students in Europe, Africa, Far East and United States since 2009.

Natasha Starr

TRAINER & ASSESSOR

  • Natasha’s has been a qualified Dental Nurse since 2012 and began teaching and assessing in the subject in 2020. 

    Over the past few years, she has taken on the Internal Verifier role for both the Assessor Award and the AET. She enjoys working with trainees and developing them as future tutors and assessors. 

    Natasha also has an interest in Mental Health Awareness and safeguarding. 

    In her spare time Natasha enjoys travelling to new places and meeting new people.

Dr. Mohammed Abushafa

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

  • Mohamed is an experienced teacher trainer and gained his PhD in the study of English language teaching in Libyan universities.  His area of expertise is in education, specialising in teaching methodologies.

    Fluent in both English and Arabic, Mohamed is keen to develop links in the Middle East that will strengthen educational opportunities for those wishing to gain UK qualifications.
