CET students must already be in a teaching position, and need to produce evidence of 30 hours of teaching practice (including 3 hours of observations) that need to be logged and signed off by your line manager.

FAQs

+ Do I need to complete the AET first?

No. You can enrol directly onto the CET.

+ What qualifications does the observer need?

Your observer needs to have a Level 5 teaching qualification, and will need to sign declaration and supply evidence of their qualification.

+ Is this a pre-requisite to the Diploma qualification?

Students can enrol directly onto the Diploma course if that is more relevant to their needs. If you’re not sure which course is best for you, contact us.

+ What is the difference between the Certificate and the Diploma?

The certificate is more suited to those working from prepared materials, whereas the Diploma is more suitable for those are involved in the planning stages, and involved in incorporating the curriculum.

+ Does it matter which subjects I teach, or who I teach to?

The subject matter can vary, but the majority of teaching hours need to be to groups of students aged over 14 years old.
