Prior achievement is recognised, but copies of certificates must be forwarded to MKLC Training before starting the programme.  The course is open to everyone who is capable of reaching the required standards and students must review their development needs in relation to English, maths and ICT skills, as they are required for the successful outcome of this programme.

Students are required to produce evidence of 100 hours of teaching practice (including 8 hours of observations of teaching practice) that are logged and signed off by their line manager.  These can be carried out over a period of time to show progression, and teaching practice can also be video recorded and sent to MKLC Training for assessment.  Skype is another option but must be discussed with your tutor.

MKLC Training can also arrange on-site observations for an additional cost.

Very supportive.

FAQs

+ Do I need to complete the AET or CET first?

No. Students can enrol directly onto the DET.

+ What qualifications does the observer need?

Observers need to have a Level 5 teaching qualification, and will need to sign declaration and supply evidence of their qualification.

+ What is the difference between the Certificate and the Diploma qualifications?

The certificate is more suited to those working from prepared materials, whereas the Diploma is for those who are involved in the planning stages, and involved in incorporating the curriculum.

+ Does it matter which subjects I teach or who I teach to?

The subject matter can vary, but the majority of teaching hours need to be to groups of students aged over 14 years old.

+ Can I pay in installments?

Yes. A payment plan can be arranged, with installments made on consecutive months.

+ How do I apply for QTLS?

After students receive the DET certificate, they can apply through the Society of Education and Training. We also offer a Level 3 in Mathematics and English which is on the approved list if students also require these.
