The research that I would like to look at is how a teacher how you deal with it on a daily basis so as not to create a negative effect to the child and to other students in the class, and to also assist all of the class to understand some of their classmates ways. Sometimes students with SEN can be excluded from every day classes and some teachers feel as though they should be taught separately – my research is all about integration and how they students with SEN has every right to be within the classroom and taught exactly the same way as the student without SEN. I am actually proposing that ALL students with SEN/EBD be taught in a mainstream class with all of the other students.
I have chosen to investigate an area of educational disability as it has a huge impact on my learners, my department, and also my role in education, which is set in a prison environment.
It is an area where, with research, I can extend my skills and knowledge and understanding in the area of dyslexia; this will impact and improve learning for my learners and their peers. It will enable me to extend the skills and knowledge of my colleagues and Prison staff creating a more dyslexic friendly environment for all in the area where learning takes place.
I have decided to base my action research project on “How to meet the needs of a Dyslexic and Dyspraxic learner within an organization with limited resources ”. This will allow me to learn more about the learner needs and how best to plan my sessions and resources to support the full learning cycle.
ESG doesn’t currently have provision or a strategy for teaching these learners and this is a relatively new funding area for the company as a whole.
