 | Recent research from the Co-operative Travel group has found that more and more Britons are shunning the Mediterranean in favour for the more exotic 'Mett'. The 'Mett' is the area of North Africa - the main destinations beign Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia and Turkey. The area might be up and coming, and you may want to stay in the all inclusive complex.....but what if you want to do a bit of sightseeing? What if you want to be able to haggle for that unique souvenir gift?  | MKLC received 'excellent' status from the Edexcel External Examiner. The External Examiner reviews the quality of course content as well as everything to do with course delivery. From the evidence produced, as well student comments, her overall report graded MKLC as excellent - especially with the prompt and clear feedback given to students to enable them to complete their qualifications.  | Congratulations to our first group of au pairs who have successfully completed their Au Pair course! They have worked really hard and managed to get all of their assignments done whilst carrying out their au pair duties. The External Verifier was very pleased with the standard of the work submitted and we hope to get the certificates in the next two weeks. |

 | Heard of VQ Day? On June 23rd, there is a celebration of vocational qualifications for employers, students and teachers. It is important to ensure you have the skills that potential employers want, especially in this economic climate where there are more applicants applying for the same jobs. For younger people we have the BTEC Business Diploma http://mklc.co.uk/Online%20Courses/BTECFirstDiploma.html. This is a great way to learn about the basic principles of business, and we also have the opportunity to offer students the chance to run their own business part-time (daytime cafe). For teachers we have PTLLS, CTLLS, DTLLS, the A1 Assessor Award and other CPD courses to add an extra dimension to your CV, as well as a good 'refresher' on your teaching expertise.  | We have our EV from OCN visiting us on Monday 14th June to assess our Au Pair portfolios. We are hoping to put through our first group of seven au pairs who have worked really hard on this pilot course. |

Deadline for bookings is Friday 9th July. We also have access to the sports facilities at Stantonbury Campus (where the classes will be held) and a weekly daytrip to either a stately home or London or Oxford. Since starting they have improved their spoken English and are able to interact more in the local community. 6-4-2010 - Stantonbury Campus Project | |
 | MKLC have sucessfully completed a community project in partnership with Stantonbury Campus - the aim was to bring the Campus and the community closer together. This has been achieved through a 6 week programme of workshops to include English as a Second Language, and familiarising parents with the school system in order to help their children. Feedback has been extremely positive - leading to new ESOL classes starting this month, and a planned Summer School with a variety of activities for local residents in neighbouring areas. Students from this group formed a strong bond and have now set up their own local community group to actively encourage others. |

The trip was part of our British Heritage qualification and also an opportunity for students to integrate with others outside of the classroom.
